What with thousands of websites bragging about alternative healing, past life regression,shamanic healing and what not. What with fancy bestsellers giving tall claims about people's lives getting revolutionised through such therapies.
The question is how easy, practical or worthwhile it actually is to locate such a healer when you badly need one. In the past few months, I must have spent a fortune getting in touch with such 'ladies' who claim to do wonders with my mental health. They are all so convincing on the telephone, and you shell out the money on the first meet itself. Even if you decide never to go to them again, they have got their money. You spend time and energy in explaining your life in a nutshell, and then if you do not continue for any reason, you've already spent a handful, and when you multiply that with x number of healers that you try out, it ends up being a size able amount.
Just pray that you are never are in such a situation, 'cause when you are, then Lord save you. You are at the mercy of hundreds of novice and semi-trained 'healers' and practitioners who would promise you the moon and then take you on a journey in which their liability is minimal while the subject is the one whose precious time and money is at stake. You pay them for every session and sitting but if you don't see the benefit, then there is this talk about the responsibility being on the person being healed.
And then its the same story about almost every other so-called healer that I meet in Delhi. An educated but umemployed housewife who is on a mission to add to the family income. And whats better than a career in which you don't invest anything, your home is the office, and no formal qualification required. Most of the times her son would be suffering with a strange psychological ailment and she has ventured into the field of the supernatural/alternate healing to treat her son. And then she feels why not make some money out of this accumulated knowledge.
The past life regression professional' that I met last Sunday was a classic case in point. She gave me an appointment pretty late in the evening and almost half way through the session, I could see her getting worried about probably making dinner, putting her kids to sleep and probably making out with her hubby. Not only was she in a hurry to end the session and getting paid, she gave me a funny argument when I objected to her son shouting at the top of his voice while she was taking me through a relaxation session.
She says, "No one has ever objected to that before." This really make me wonder that how she could take people through relaxation sessions with her son making the most loud and strange voices in the background.
Anyhow, this is another practitioner that I have rejected while incurring a great cost for such trials. My hunt is on. The latest one that I spoke to charges a handsome 1500 bucks per session. The profession is fancy indeed.
Wish I could say the same about the poor guys like me who are looking at it as a life saving strategy.
How I really wish that like my peers I could avoid spending this 2-3 thousand extra every month and rather use it on something more productive such as splurging at a garment store or taking my better half out for some decent dinner-outs.
